We are looking forward to welcoming Family Promise on our campus once again! Family promise is an organization that partners with churches to provide safe places for homeless families to live and stay together. As a church who partners with Family Promise, we host about 4-5 families during the week that we host. Family Promise sends families to stay in our church during the nights and we provide food and a comfortable place for them to stay while they are here. During that time some of them may move into housing. It is always a meaningful time to meet the families and pray with them during this difficult time.
We mix the right ingredients to help families with children envision a bright future.
Our church, with Family Promise, provides the resources, time, and love for families to stabilize after becoming homeless. It is a scary and traumatic time for them. This minsitry calms their fears and gives them reasons to hope. This Emergency Shelter Program provides shelter, food, and compassion through staff and a loving community of volunteers, like our church. It as a holistic solution to end family homelessness.
The Family Promise organization supports the families when they are not on church campuses, supporting:
· children through daycare assistance, school, in-house play spaces, and nearby Boys & Girls Clubs activities. It maintains a sense of normal family life that kids crave.
· parents who, knowing their children are safe and cared for, can focus on their goals: to secure employment, save money, and search for next-step housing. Our social services empower families to quickly graduate and move on.
· pets, who now officially count among the homeless population. They get their own food and shelter right alongside their human family! Without such a service, families would either live in their car to keep their pet or surrender it to an animal shelter.
Please consider joining as a volunteer for Family Promise Week, beginning the week of May 24!
